The Surf Spot

Baler, Aurora- This post has been long overdue. My family and I went to Aurora since my mom was "curious" about the rave of the place. We intend to go home after that. But! in an unexpected turn of events, we stayed the night- which means almost a day of exploring the place!

Honestly, I think one day isn't enough to explore the entire city. There are a LOT of things that the city can offer. But I think we maximised our stay by going to some of the areas it is renowned for.
Our first stop was the Museo de Baler. There's a ticket for the place which also includes pass to Doña Aurora's ancestral home. The museum offers you the background of the place and interesting art pieces from paintings to sculptures. There's also a Nipa hut outside, so be sure to check that out.

After visiting the museum, a few blocks away you can see stalls selling various Baler souvenir items such as tees, figurines, keychain and even surfing gears.

Another block away and you can visit the Doña Aurora's ancestral house, which is really well preserved from every memorabilia from the furniture to the actual house itself.
While you're at it, the municipal hall and a Church is nearby so be sure to check those out as well.
For lunch, you are in for a treat since, seafood here is really cheap and really good.

The second thing we did was to visit various waterfalls and beaches. Forgot their names, but one of the waterfalls, was literally on the side of the road and totally inconspicuous. It made us miss it and turn back, but hey, we found it!

This beach was on low tide which is totally amazing since we were able to walk on this large rock structures and the water area you see is not the coastline, but a deep edge overlooking the bottom of the sea. It was scary but at the same time beautiful.

For our hotel, there are a LOT of hotels to choose from. There are expensive hotels and really cheap ones and they all boast that they are beachfront resorts. But we settled for one that is a beachfront and is decently priced. The amenities are not bad for its price. My tip when choosing for a place to stay is to try looking around for options.
Since Baler is a surf spot, I wouldn't miss an opportunity to try it out. It was fantastic. I had a per hour teacher and it was the worth the money. I learned a lot and made me want to actually DO surfing as my sport.
Well, that was my Baler experience for a day! Hope you can visit the place, I recommend it. If only we could've stayed longer, I'd want to surf again please hahaha.
